Microsoft has announced the Copilot Fall Release, a major update to its AI assistant that introduces 12 new features aimed at making artificial intelligence more intuitive, personalised, and human-centred.

According to Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, the goal of the update is to build “AI that serves people, not replaces them,” helping users focus on meaningful work and life instead of constant digital demands.

The new features expand Copilot’s role across productivity, creativity, and communication, with improvements spanning Windows, Edge, and Microsoft’s suite of connected applications.

New Features and Capabilities

Among the highlights is Mico, a visual AI companion that reacts with colour and animation, listens, and adapts during conversations to make interactions smoother. The new Groups feature allows up to 32 users to collaborate in real time, summarising discussions, assigning tasks, and keeping projects on track.

Imagine is a new creative workspace where users can explore and remix AI-generated concepts together.

Personalisation also gets a major boost through Memory & Personalisation, enabling Copilot to remember details such as birthdays, goals, and work preferences, with full control for users to view, edit, or delete stored information at any time.

Connectors extend Copilot’s reach to external platforms, integrating with Outlook, Gmail, Google Drive, OneDrive, and Google Calendar for easier content management and cross-platform organisation.

AI That Anticipates and Supports

Proactive Actions allow Copilot to suggest next steps or surface insights without the user needing to prompt it manually. In healthcare, Copilot for Health provides access to trusted medical information from sources like Harvard Health and can help users find relevant doctors or services.

For students, Learn Live introduces an interactive tutoring experience with voice, visuals, and digital whiteboards to make learning more engaging.

Windows and Edge Integration

On Windows and Microsoft Edge, Copilot now functions as a full AI companion. Copilot Mode in Edge summarises browser tabs, executes actions such as booking hotels, and supports hands-free browsing using voice commands. Journeys organises browsing history into narrative timelines, helping users revisit and resume earlier tasks easily.

The update also adds Pages & Copilot Search, allowing multi-file collaboration and AI-powered results that blend traditional web links with summarised, cited information.

Microsoft confirmed that the new Copilot experience is available in the United States and will expand globally in the coming weeks. The company described this rollout as a key step in making AI tools more practical and user-centred across its ecosystem.
