Google announced on Wednesday the global expansion of its AI Mode search experience, alongside new booking tools that allow users to purchase event tickets and schedule appointments directly within Search. The update reflects the company’s ongoing effort to make AI-driven search interactions more functional and accessible across markets.

AI Mode Expands to 200+ Countries

The company has added a dedicated AI Mode button in Chrome for iOS and Android devices, providing quicker access to the feature. The mobile shortcut is available in the United States starting today and will expand to more than 160 additional countries in the coming weeks, with support for languages such as Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Portuguese.

Google said AI Mode now serves users in over 200 countries and territories. The feature enables conversational search experiences that generate contextual, multi-step results rather than simple keyword responses.

New Booking Tools Powered by Gemini 2.0

The update introduces enhanced booking capabilities developed under Project Mariner and powered by Google’s Gemini 2.0 model. These features allow users to make real-world transactions directly through search, such as buying concert tickets or scheduling appointments.

For example, users can ask, “Find me two cheap tickets for the Shaboozey concert, prefer standing floor,” and AI Mode will search multiple vendors to compile relevant results with direct purchase links. The system integrates with major platforms including Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, OpenTable, Resy, Tock, and Booksy, expanding on the restaurant reservation tools introduced earlier this year.

“AI Mode will search across multiple sites to show real-time availability for tickets and reservations that match user requests,” Google said in a statement.

Competing in the AI Search Market

Google’s expansion of AI Mode comes as competition intensifies with Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. Since its launch in March, AI Mode has grown from availability in three countries to a global footprint. Google reports that user queries through AI Mode are nearly three times longer than traditional keyword searches, indicating higher engagement levels.

The latest features are available to users participating in Search Labs in the United States, with extended usage limits for AI Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google noted that while AI Mode leverages its existing quality and safety systems, it remains in an experimental phase and may continue to evolve as the company refines the experience.
