Palantir Technologies announced on Thursday that it has signed a multi-year strategic partnership with Lumen Technologies to deploy its artificial intelligence (AI) software across Lumen’s telecommunications and enterprise infrastructure.
The agreement, described as a “multi-year, multi-million-dollar partnership,” will integrate Palantir’s Foundry and Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) with Lumen’s edge computing, broadband, and cloud infrastructure. According to Bloomberg, which cited unnamed sources, the total value of the partnership exceeds $200 million over several years.
Transforming telecom into tech infrastructure
The partnership marks a significant step in Lumen’s ongoing shift from a traditional telecom operator to a technology-driven infrastructure provider. In September, Lumen confirmed that it was collaborating with Palantir to deploy AI and data analytics across its internal operations, including finance and network management.
Lumen spokesperson Joe Goode told TechCrunch that Palantir’s technology had already played a key role in driving $350 million in cost reductions for 2025. He said the insights gained from that initial collaboration led both companies to expand their partnership to serve external enterprise clients.
“Palantir demonstrated that its Foundry and AIP platforms could unlock Lumen’s data faster and cheaper than traditional data-lake migrations,” Goode said. “Together, we’re pursuing solutions to help large enterprises achieve similar efficiencies.”
Lumen has pledged to reduce overall expenses by $1 billion by 2027 and has stated that it is already ahead of schedule.
Expanding Palantir’s commercial footprint
For Palantir, the deal with Lumen extends its commercial expansion strategy, as the company continues to secure major partnerships across multiple industries. Including this agreement, Palantir has announced 19 partnerships in 2025 spanning defence, aviation, healthcare, contract management, and telecom.
Palantir’s Foundry and AIP platforms are designed to help organisations integrate and analyse complex datasets, automate workflows, and deploy AI-driven decision-making across their operations.
Industry collaboration for applied AI
Kate Johnson, CEO of Lumen Technologies, said the partnership aims to bring practical AI solutions to businesses through connected digital infrastructure.
“By bringing AI into real-world operations through a connected ecosystem, we’re empowering businesses to reinvent how they operate, compete, and grow,” Johnson said in a statement.
Both companies said they plan to extend their collaboration to deliver enterprise AI tools that combine Palantir’s AI capabilities with Lumen’s digital infrastructure for commercial clients worldwide.
